Municipal resources for finding work in Gran Canaria
Ubuntu Canarias · 5 min read
When we look for work, we usually think of InfoJobs, LinkedIn or Indeed, but local councils also have employment resources: job boards, career guidance and job matching with companies. Here we bring together some of the most useful ones in Gran Canaria and, above all, the conditions that apply to each.
1. San Bartolomé de Tirajana: Portal de Empleo
This is the municipal employment portal (Portal de Empleo, "Employment Portal") created by the Council's Local Development Agency. It allows you to:
- Register your CV.
- Make your profile visible to companies.
- Apply for job offers.
- Track your applications.
Important: this portal is intended for people who are registered on the municipal register (padrón) in San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The portal itself says so: to use its services as a jobseeker, you must be registered on the municipal register (padrón) in the municipality. It has job offers from different sectors.
2. Mogán: Portal de Empleo
This is another municipal job-matching portal. It allows you to:
- Register your CV.
- Apply for job offers.
- Track your applications.
- Make your profile visible to companies.
Companies can also post job offers for free.
Important: unlike the San Bartolomé de Tirajana portal, the public information on the Mogán portal does not say that you must be registered on the municipal register (padrón) in the municipality. Even so, if you do not live in Mogán, we recommend checking the registration conditions before signing up.
3. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: IMEF
Instituto Municipal para el Empleo y la Formación (IMEF)
This is a very important resource. The IMEF – Instituto Municipal para el Empleo y la Formación (Municipal Institute for Employment and Training) offers:
- Career guidance.
- Job matching with companies.
- A job board, both for unemployed people and for those who want to improve their current job.
- Training and qualifications.
- Support for entrepreneurship and self-employment.
- Help preparing your CV.
- Active job search workshops.
It also has a free job-matching service between companies and people looking for work.
Important condition: according to the conditions published by the City Council, IMEF services are intended for people who are registered on the municipal register (padrón) or who live in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

4. Telde: Agencia de Colocación
Agencia de Colocación del Ayuntamiento de Telde
Telde City Council has an employment and job-matching service, the Agencia de Colocación (Placement Agency). It is worth distinguishing it from a portal like the Maspalomas one: it is not just a matter of logging in, browsing offers and sending your CV, but a municipal career guidance and job-matching service. Check its requirements before signing up.
5. Ingenio: Agencia de Empleo y Desarrollo Local
Agencia de Empleo y Desarrollo Local de Ingenio
The Agencia de Empleo y Desarrollo Local (Employment and Local Development Agency) offers employment resources, career guidance, training, employment programmes, local development and support for entrepreneurship. Requirements may change depending on the programme or call, so you need to check the conditions of each one.
6. Gáldar: employment resources and job boards
Employment at Gáldar Town Council
Gáldar publishes municipal information on employment, training, employment plans and selection processes. It is not a portal for private company job offers like those of San Bartolomé de Tirajana or Mogán. It is a good idea to check its calls and job boards, because the requirements change with each process.
Something important before you sign up
Not all municipal employment resources are open to everyone in Gran Canaria. Some require you to be registered on the municipal register (padrón) in the municipality. Others depend on each call and may have different requirements: residence, employment situation, age, training, registration as a jobseeker, etc. Always read the requirements of the service or job offer before registering.
What if you are not registered on the municipal register (padrón) in those municipalities?
That does not mean you cannot use other resources. There are also placement agencies and job-matching organisations working in Gran Canaria that are not municipal services, as well as the Servicio Canario de Empleo (Canary Islands Employment Service).
At Ubuntu Canarias we will keep gathering these resources so you know where to look for work and what requirements each one has. We want you to know not only the big job platforms, but also the free public resources that often go unnoticed.
